Apricity’s Symphony in Roseate Sonata

“Sonata”

Personality Surveys

Training engagement (low/medium/high):

One Year: Medium. Sonata has opinions sometimes! She loves to train when she is in the mood and we have worked hard on building her food motivation. We do agility class once a week and she has done well with engaging through her class with lots of toy play and minimal repetition. She is getting much better as she gets older and is really fun to work with when she is in the mood and sessions are short. She has done well showing in conformation, as well. We don’t train much at home in order to keep things fun when she goes to class!

Energy level (low/medium/high):

One Year: Medium - Sonata is FAST and loves to run in the yard and yell at birds overhead. Indoors she is very good at settling and loves her naps. She wrestles with the other dogs a little bit each day but is really good at just hanging out and chilling.

Biddability (low/medium/high):

One Year: Medium to high - she wants to make me happy and is very sweet and loving. Engagement can be off and on but for the most part she listens well.

Vocality (low/medium/high):

One Year: High - she loves to bark outside in our yard. She is very good on walks and out and about since we have worked on that from a young age. She likes to bark inside and “herd” everyone to the door when they are going from crates to outdoors, but for the most part she can be quiet inside.

Prey drive (low/medium/high):

One Year: High - she likes to chase things and drives off birds outside (a very important icie job). She does fine with our cat who she knows. She hasn’t been around any other small mammals. All squirrels are ENEMIES!!

Human social (reactive, aloof, neutral, social):

One Year: Neutral to social - Sonata absolutely LOVES the people she knows. When meeting new people she can be hit or miss on if she wants to visit or not.

Dog social: (reactive, aloof, neutral, social):

One Year: Social - she LOVES all dogs, but she is also very good about ignoring strange dogs and passing them by when she is asked to.

Environmental sensitivity - (scale of 1-10, 10 being very reactive/unable to redirect and 1 being sleeping and/or completely engaged and able to ignore the world):

One Year: 4 - Sensitive, yes. Sonata can be a little bit anxious in new places wanting to watch everything going on which can reduce her ability to engage. She is sometimes jumpy with loud sounds but recovers quickly. She is not reactive other than to squirrels if we’re out on a walk.

Confidence level (scale of 1-10, 1 being afraid of the smallest change/shadow and 10 being completely unafraid in any scenario):

One Year: 8 - She is sometimes sensitive to new places but generally warms up quickly and adjusts.

Velcro (scale 1-10, 1 being very independent and aloof and 10 being living in your skin at all times):

One Year: 7 - She is independent in some scenarios for sure but she likes to be near me and follow me around at home. She is not allowed outside off leash (outside of fences) at this point because she would likely run off chasing something.

Affectionate (scale 1-10, 1 being not ever seeking or giving affection/attention, 10 being the most affectionate dog ever):

One Year: 8 - She loves her snuggles

Problem solving skills/independent thinking: (scale 1-10, 1 being needs help with everything/can’t generalize, 10 being puzzle master):

One Year: 7 - We haven’t done many actual puzzles because her food motivation is lower, but she is a smart girl.

Off switch?

One Year: AMAZING, she is the most chill icie I have ever met.

Favorite activities:

One Year: Hiking, yelling at birds in the yard, frisbee, and FastCAT. And naps!

Personality quirks?

One Year: She grumbles at the TV if she sees dogs or other animals which is always funny. She is very playful and silly which entertains us constantly.

Pros?

One Year: She is so sweet and chill! An absolute gem to have in our house. Cannot imagine life without her!

Cons?

One Year: She is a bit sensitive in new places and around new people. I would like her to be a bit more confident, so we will be watching for that to improve as she grows.
